I have compiled this list from the message board and emails that I have received and cut and pasted here. No particular order and several of the same item from different sources.

The advice is always use genuine Jabiru supplied parts. Jabiru have apparently been supplying sub standard pattern parts themselves on occasion!!!

This is just a list of what others have used or equivalents......... your choice

Oil filter RYCO Z386:
L= 3" / 74mm dia = 2.7" / 65mm thread 3/4 x 16 UNF
bypass valve 8 - 11 psi with anti-drainback valve
equivalents are listed AC Delco AC022, Baldwin B33, WIX 51394
Halfords HOF230, Daikuan Max Nippon M0-125, Amsoil SDF-10, Hastings
LF410 or 413, Purolator L14476 (or PER4476), NAPA 1394, Wix 51394, AC
Delco PF1233, Fram PH4967 or TG4967, K&N 1003, Walmart brand Super Tech

Some other compatible filters are slighlty longer e.g. Champion C138 and
can be difficult to fit if using the oil cooler adapter.

the original grey coils were OEM for Honda small engines GX240, 270,
340, 390 part no. 30500-ZF6-W02
the later coils are Honda OEM for the same engines and GXV270K1 part
number 30500-ZF5-003
===
I decided to buy a spare coil but found that Honda now supply an updated
version of their
30500-ZF5-003 and 30500-ZF6-W02 coils, the new part number is
30500-Z1C-023. Although
the metal laminations are the same dimensions, the black plastic body is
slightly smaller.

For the information of the group. The starter motor used on a Jabiru is
automotive in origin but the mounting is definately Jabiru's own. The
motor and body on earlier starters was Bosch I believe but for most of
the last decade they were Nippon Denso. Type "2-1065-ND-2 Corolla" into
Google and see what comes up - you will find it's the starter from a
88-92 Toyota Corolla.

Bosch 'long' part numbers for the 3300 cap and rotor are:

Rotor - 9231064301
Been told these are not available through Bosch UK, probably because the
source auto engine is a Holden ?

With top end services the items most replaced are the exhaust valves and
pistons rings. Cost the total from Jabiru UK and you will see that the
job will be very expensive.

1. Piston ring sets (not for the very latest engines)

VN Commodore V6 Rings
96.52 2x1.5 x 3-4458 040

(040 indicates that these rings are oversized by 040)

Available from USA motor factors who advertise on ebay USA. Even with
postage, the cost is less than half Uk price. I bought 2 boxes on
special offer (12 ring sets) so that should last me for a long time.

2. Like for like valves from UK (same manufacturer) so you save on all
the mark ups. Down side is a min order and lead time. Owners should get
together and order a batch of say 50 at £16 each (probably cheaper if
more are ordered). Original collets can be re-used so a massive saving
for say a 6 engine.

3. 5 bar oil pressure senders available from ebay shop Auto Marine Electrics at 13.95 pounds. Not VDO but at this price good for keeping as a spare or installing in the main gallery - put a rubber o ring round the sensor to minimise vibration and prolong life (like a tennis racket)

The fuel pump fits the Volvo 404, among other vehicles. You may have to
trim the gasket so the oil drains back through that little oil return
hole in the case.

If you, or anyone gets around to wanting to figure out the fuel pump
Jabiru uses, it is a BCD1875, which is what we are using, and you can
find them of them on eBay as well as other sources. You will need to
remove the stock pressed-in fittings, drill and tap it for 1/8" NPT like
Jabiru does, or you can use your old cover.
===
Valve cover: O-ring is BS237V (British Standard Size 237 Viton) 3 3/8
I/D 3 5/8 O/D 1/8 diam
===
I also found that the engine is a 3.8l Holden, which I think takes a
Mahle 6MKRY3802 piston.

I get my 32mm rubbers from Z Power with the proper clamps that are for the rubber so much better than jubilee clips but don't over tighten them. Here is the part number for the clamp 920371304

Jabiru have stopped using Ryco fuel filters and are providing a clear unmarked look alike which are available from motor factors for under £3.00. Be careful though, the quality of any unmarked filter is unknown which, unfortunately has to include the ones Jabiru now supplies.

Ryco is an australian brand. All of their filters are made by the Shangrao Kaidi Auto Parts Co. Ltd in China. They make filters for most of the large car manufactures and tons of OEM spares. Although Ryco are difficult to source in the UK, other suppliers ship the exact same part under a different brand.

Unbranded units are known as OEM. Equivalents are 10 for £12 on ebay. Unmarked and identical.

I have been using them for close to three years with a change every 25 hours and after ripping them apart, i have not seen any worrying signs.

 Distributor Cap
The Bosch Germany part number for the 2200  distributor cap is 1987 233 009 (price £8.99) but as Clive says, other manufacturer's caps are good, it's just the rotors that may not be up to it. Commercial Ignition sell a good cap, part number XD97.

Rotor Arm
The Bosch Germany 2200  rotor arm is part number 1987 234 014. Price £3.99

 Fuel pump gasket

At 105 hours now on my Jabiru SK with the 2200A engine I noticed oil drops on the left firewall and some on the left cowling where the upper and lower cowling meet. An exhaustive search finally found the source.

The paper gasket under the fuel pump on the "Right" side was bad. The oil drops were blown to the other side and that is what made finding this very hard.

Anyway bought some gasket paper and with punch and scissors made a gasket. Not a drop of oil seen since. Meanwhile I learned the gasket is available from Subaru car parts departments.

Oil Pressure Sender

Genuine VDO, 0-5 Bar / 0-80 PSI sender with 1/8 NPT thread, suitable for all Jabiru 2200/3300 engines.  Sender is stamped with the number 29/4.

Single terminal for connection to VDO oil pressure guage. (or Stratomaster) The second terminal is not normally used on the non-genuine (copy part, marked ELO) sender supplied as original equipment on the Jabiru engine. But if you require it, see below. ST Aviation Services recommend that you replace ELO pressure senders with a VDO one (They say ELO senders can show a different pressure when warm)

Parts 4 Aircraft

360-009 VDO Oil Pressure Sender 80psi / 5 Bar

VDO 5bar / 80 psi oil pressure sender. Twin terminal type suitable for the Jabiru 2200 and 3300 engine. (1/8 NPT thread).  Sender is stamped 30/23

Starter Motor

For the information of the group. The starter motor used on a Jabiru is automotive in origin but the mounting is definately Jabiru's own. The motor and body on earlier starters was Bosch I believe but for most of the last decade they were Nippon Denso. Type "2-1065-ND-2 Corolla" into Google and see what comes up - you will find it's the starter from a 88-92 Toyota Corolla.

I know of at least one person who has mated the motor and drive from the Corolla starter to the Jabiru mounting bracket. Price should be less than £100.

If you get problems with your starter I would always recommend as the first port of call an automotive starter and alternator repair shop. They have racks full of interchangeable spares and can usually rebuild anything

Coils

30500-ZF5-003 for the black TEK coil
30500-ZF6-W02 for the earlier grey coil.

GX240, GX270, GX340, GX390 series Honda engines.

Supplier: www.GX160parts.com
Honda supply the coils with just a trailing HT lead so you will need to crimp on a new connector for the distributor cap and re-fit the boot (or carefully remove the old connector and re-use).

After the debacle of trying to use cheap look alike coils (which in the UK were recalled) Jabiru used another brand. Sometime in the 1000 series range of engines, the leads of these coils were made too short. As an interim measure, the leads were extended by Jabiru and it is the jabiru splicing that can fail - not the coil. To see if your ignition coils fall into this category check the leads. If they are not continuous then they are spliced and hence have a weak point. The problem with a failing connection is that it begins intermittently (rather like a cap not being connected fully home), manifests itself at different rpms (vibration levels) only and is difficult to diagnose. Sometimes increased radio interference will be a clue. If you have an old failed coil with a spliced lead, carefully cut into the splice and you will see what I mean.

The other common reason for coil failure is that the gap is incorrectly set and the coil touching the magnets can overheat the coil. Witness marks on the magnests is a good indication of lack of gap.

Otherwise, if the coil and spark plug gaps are correctly set, most coils enjoy a long serviceable life well into the 1000s of hours.

If you don't find that the fault lies in a spliced wire, the part numbers to ask for at a Honda lawnmower or generator dealer are as above

Just out of interest the stock rubbers are from a Ford Falcon XP and XL 65 to 67 also Ford Mustangs of the same period as they used the same chassis

Brahe cylinder pistons Cups

Good news if you have the original 1" brake cylinders ;-)

I've just received my brake cups which I ordered through eBay a few days ago. They're brand new in sealed packaging and the same as the originals. (Part number 1499, embossed 1", Made in the USA )
They fit behind the piston in the brake caliper cylinder. They form the hydraulic seal and push the piston forward when the brakes are applied

The cost was a very reasonable £7.50 for 4 including p&p. Item number: 150600189478 from vintagevehiclespares.

Windscreen

There are some great EAA articles on making screens, just have a poke around their website and EAA chapter home pages and you will find a wealth of info, there is also a company down at Thruxton who can do drape forming of polycarb sheet very reasonably
